Finding 'Me in TiME' for Wellness: A Marathon, Not a Sprint

Ever start your day full of great intentions, like fitting in a solid workout or eating clean? Then, before you know it, you're putting the kids to bed and all you want to do is binge-watch your favorite show and unwind. It's incredible how quickly a day can slip away despite our best intentions to care for ourselves!

Have you ever thought about running a marathon? Whether your response is a determined 'yes', a vehement 'no', or somewhere in between, the concept is rather daunting. It's not just the 26.2 miles on race day that's intimidating, but also taking that very first step, making the commitment, and the lifestyle changes that follow. Sound familiar? It mirrors the beginning of a wellness journey.

When I say 'wellness journey', I’m not suggesting you should sign up for a marathon (unless you're into that, and if so, go you!). I’m talking about holistic wellness, which encompasses all areas of your life: your diet, exercise routine, the quality of your relationships, home life, cooking, and yes, even your job satisfaction.

As busy moms, it can seem overwhelming to add yet another task to our already full plates. Between work, kids, and life in general, finding time for personal wellness can feel like a Herculean task. I get it.

Think about how a runner trains for a marathon - perhaps it's waking up early for a run, incorporating strength training, or practicing yoga for flexibility. Similarly, there are numerous ways for busy moms like you to infuse wellness into your daily routine. The first step? Acknowledging the desire to make a change and understanding that this journey, like a marathon, is a long game.

This is where a health coach can make all the difference. We collaborate with you to develop a customized game plan and achievable goals to help keep you on track. Maybe it's participating in an early morning exercise class while the kids are still asleep, squeezing in some fitness during your lunch break, or slipping into your workout clothes first thing in the morning as a gentle reminder to engage in some form of activity during the day.

Wellness isn't just about eating green and staying active. It's about fostering healthier habits that empower you to live your best life. This involves taking small, consistent steps like choosing the stairs over the elevator, swapping chips for an apple, or even taking the first 15 minutes of your day to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in peace. As moms, it's second nature to prioritize everyone else and put ourselves last, but remember, your health matters too!

Like any journey, this one comes with its fair share of challenges. But remember, every setback is an opportunity for a comeback. On this wellness journey, every hurdle is a chance for growth and renewed commitment. And remember, you won't be going it alone - your health coach will be there to provide support and encouragement, helping you stay the course.

Taking that first step towards prioritizing your health is all about mustering the courage to put yourself at the top of your to-do list and acknowledging your desire to feel better in your body. It's about recognizing your need for 'me time' and understanding that wellness isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. Your journey, like a marathon, is not just about reaching the finish line but celebrating every small victory along the way.

Remember, you're not alone in this journey. We, at Be Well Stay Well, are your cheer squad, ready to celebrate every step you take. This is your starting line. Your wellness journey. Your marathon.

So here's to you, to taking that first step, and to the remarkable journey ahead. After all, wellness is not a sprint, but a marathon, meant to be savored and enjoyed. Lace up those metaphorical shoes and let's get started!
